The eclipse began at 0148 IST (2018 GMT Saturday) and was visible from the whole of Europe, Africa, South America, and eastern parts of the US and Canada.
The moon was totally immersed in the shadow of the Earth between 0414 IST and 0528 IST, appearing reddish in colour as only light that had been filtered through the Earth's atmosphere reached its surface.
