Hedge Funds and Political Donations
Filed in archive Hedgetalk on May 24, 2007
I was doing some research on the effect hedge funds are having on politics and if there is any possibility that these giants could sway the outcome.
In the news, so far hedge fund executives gave at least $2.3 million in campaign donations during the 2004 election, compared with $576,000 four years earlier, according to federal election data compiled by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. In 2006, the total was around $6 million.
Hedge fund donations are expected to jump over the next two years to dwarfing all previous totals. Some of the presidential candidates going to hedge funds are Hillary Clinton, barack obama, John Edwards and Rudolph Giuliani.
