La Môme

Flashback type storyline outlining the songstress' tragic background, her fathers repeated orphaning type traveling, her substance abuse and lonely death. Edith Piaf, (the sparrow)is played by Marion Cotillard.
Kind of romantic in its portrait of turn of the century France, it was well worth the watch even though I couldn't follow the dialog exactly, French with Swedish subtitles.
Street singers, contortionists, gypsies and prostitution make the movie reminiscent of an Irish ballad
of sorts. Kind of arty, it does occupy the senses.Owned by hedge fund associate Picturehouse, the movie has made quite a splash at European film festivals.
