The 2008 Mongol Rally
Filed in archive Charity on July 21, 2008

The craziest charity rally has set off from London to Mongolia!....... "Imagine yourself in the middle of the gargantuan Kazakh desert, your car slowly being shredded by the dirt track your map says is a motorway, completely lost hundreds of miles from civilisation with no back up crew to rescue you. Just you, your wits, your increasingly brown pants, a car that the laws of physics say shouldn't have got you past Peckham Rye and a slightly angry looking man with a gun." he website says.

The Mongol Rally involves teams in sub 1-litre engine vehicles travelling from London, 200 cars, driven by teams from 23 countries (in fancy dress), setting off on a journey of up to 10,000 miles through 15 countries in cars they swapped for a bag of crisps (literally!), including an ambulance and a 1966 red double-decker bus.
All the teams have raised at least £1000 for charity and the total is expected to be £300,000! WAYN.com are main sponsors for the event and were taking pictures of the teams prior to them setting off on their crazy mission!
