Upcoming Hedge Fund Book Interview

Timothy K. Sykes, managing partner of hedge fund Cilantro Fund Partners LP, will be appearing live today on FOX's show "Your World with Neil Cavuto", to discuss his upcoming book "An American Hedge Fund" sometime between 4 and 5PM EST today, Wednesday, July 4th.

The book debuts October 1, 2007, detailing the misunderstood worlds of microcap equities and startup hedge funds.

Cilantro Fund Partners LP was formed in early 2003 to generate absolute returns by capitalizing on the hype, retail euphoria and short squeezes that are commonplace in the US small cap and micro cap market. We look for outstanding risk-reward scenarios to short fundamentally weak companies and buy undervalued companies.

Here is Timmy’s book in a nutshell.

1) Timmy made money trading the NASDAQ bubble (along with everyone else).

2) Timmy has not made moneytrading in the last 5 years.

3) Timmy is trying to make money off his ’99-’01 track record, while lying about his trading failures over the last 5 years.

There, I saved you the $20 book fee.

Pathetic Audited Performance:
DOWN 36% since Jan2006!!!!
The bleeding of his “Fund” continues….
Annual return 1%/yr since 2003.

Sykes wants to “teach” his failure in a stupid book…..AVOID SYKES……he knows NOTHING about running a Hedge Fund……

I agree with Seth..this book had no redeeming value. I learned nothing…Th best books about hedge funds that are both fascinating ..honest, and informative…..Hedge Fund Trading Secrets Revealed by Robert Dorfman… and Confessions of a Street Addict by Jim Cramer….both these books take you on a great ride about hedge funds and how they make money. I learned about this secret society than I ever would have imagined. Dorfman actually teaches traders his strategies.

Robert Dorfman? Are you kidding me? Granted, he is the real deal and certainly not to be compared with Tim Sykes, but Dorfman’s book sucked balls. It was a patchwork of readily available information from open sources and streams of consciousness, punctuated by personal anecdotes. His “strategies” are derived from a black box system and Thomson’s AutEx — and his triggers are chart patterns. In fact, the book is nothing more than a sales pitch for his signal service. And a poorly written sales pitch at that. He is living in Costa Rica and needed to find some way to earn a living, I suppose.

He may have been one of the better traders out there at one time. He may have some insight into the secretive world of hedge funds. But he put himself out to pasture and he should just stay there. This kind of crap is beneath his dignity…or so I thought.

Dorfman. Hah!

A lot of these traders have just plain fizzled out. All the methods and insider secrets in the world aren\’t going to help you when the economy is tanking.
