US Hedge Funds & Political Donations

I was doing some research on the effect hedge funds are having on politics and if there is any possibility that these giants could sway the outcome in their favor when I came across this article on Times Online, it has some interesting points.
"Hedge fund donations are expected to jump over the next two years to dwarf the $5.1 million given in the run-up to the 2004 presidential election."
Some of the presidential candidates going to hedge funds are Hillary Clinton, barack obama, John Edwards and Rudolph Giuliani.
However, there are hedge fund donors to both Democratic and Republican parties, so its not as one sided as it was in the beginning with most hedge funds leaning to the left and the Republicans calling for a halt to hedge fund extremists.
Heres a good site where you can fill out a questionnaire to find your own political stance; Political Compass. However, don't pay the fee unless you have a good printer on hand.
More political news about Obama.

The Democrats are really not in favor of hedge funds survival and that concerns me. Hedge Funds draw some of the biggest and most talented people in the world at what they do and most of them have the American Entrepreneurial spirit which makes this country great. If they try and tax and regulate this group more then they will slow down the pace of the economy and the people who drive it.
